Grip Size Recommender

Make every club feel custom-built with our Grip Size Recommender. By blending your hand measurements with your natural ball flight, the tool quickly tells you whether undersize, standard, midsize, or oversize grips (plus optional tape wraps) will give you the square-face contact you’re after.

Grip Size Recommender

Measure your hand, select your shot tendency, and get a grip size in seconds.

Why Grip Size Matters

Grip diameter controls how easily your hands can rotate the clubface through impact. If the grip is too small, your wrists can flip shut and produce a hook; if it’s too large, you may block or slice the ball. Matching grip girth to both hand size and swing tendencies keeps the face square longer and improves shot consistency.

Grip SizeOutside Diameter (≈ at butt end)Typical Hand Length
Undersize / Ladies≈ 0.56″–0.58″< 7.0″
Standard≈ 0.58″–0.60″7.0″ – 8.25″
Midsize≈ 0.60″–0.62″8.25″ – 9.25″
Oversize / Jumbo> 0.62″> 9.25″

Each extra layer of grip tape adds roughly 1/64″ to the diameter. Four wraps equal about one full size jump.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Measure your hand length – from the tip of your middle finger to the first wrist crease, in inches.
  2. Select your typical shot shape – choose the ball flight you see on most shots.
  3. Read the results – the tool shows a base size, any adjustments, and optional wrap guidance.
  4. (Optional) Hit Reset to run another measurement, e.g., for a playing partner.

Practical Example

Scenario

  • Hand length: 8.0″
  • Shot shape: Hook / Draw

Results

  • Base size: Standard
  • Adjustment: Hook → one size larger
  • Final recommendation: Midsize
  • Alternative: Stay Standard + 3 wraps to soften the hook without changing weight drastically.

Tips for Fitting Success

  • Feel vs. numbers – Always hit shots with the recommended size; some players prefer slightly thinner/thicker than the chart.
  • Check glove wear – Excess wear on the heel of the glove can signal a grip that’s too small.
  • Weight matters – Larger grips are heavier; if swing-weight is critical, consider lighter “plus-size” models or tape wraps instead of a full size jump.

Limitations

  • Hand length is a simple proxy; circumference or finger thickness can refine results.
  • The shot-shape adjustment assumes face-angle issues, not path problems. If your hook/slice comes from swing path, grip size may not fix it.
  • Environmental factors (glove thickness, humidity, cord vs. rubber texture) can influence perceived size.

Use the tool as a starting point, then test on the range or during a club-fitting session to lock in your perfect feel.
